Smart Factory in Omniverse is collaborative pre-study project, developed by MDU, MITC and Stellar Capacity, which aims to enable university students and production technology leaders from the automotive industry to build a virtual smart factory and use it jointly for training and development.

The project is coordinated  by MDU and  utilizes MITC´s expertise, lab equipment, tech center facilities, such as VR/AR technologies and connected production system. Expert support within learning and training areas is provided by Stellar Capacity.

The Smart Factory in Omniverse project´s goal is to revolutionize the way students and industry leaders train, create and work together as teams and to bring more creative possibilities and efficiency to academia and enterprises.

The planned training programme is focused on technical understanding of the Smart factory concept along with insights into leadership, mindset, and human behaviour in the context of digital transformation.

The estimated project duration is 6 months starting August 2022. The project leaders are Catarina Bojesson (MDU) and Erik Andersen (MITC). Funding for the project comes from the Volvo Preferred Partner programme.
